ABOUT THE FAIR
My Turn to
Learn is an in-mall college fair designed for
non-traditional students, to encourage them to pursue or complete their
bachelor's degree. My Turn to Learn will bring colleges
and institutions that finance higher education face-to-face with non-traditional
students in a friendly, low-key environment.
Volunteers from
several Massachusetts branches of AAUW - the American
Association of University Women, are organizing the event.
"We are holding
My Turn to Learn in a public place where prospective
non-traditional students will be shopping with their families,"
organizer and AAUW Taunton Branch President Beryl Domingo explained.
"We'll invite them to stop by and talk to representatives from
local colleges. We want them to leave the fair believing it's possible
to go back and finish that degree, or to start down the road toward
that goal. We also want to make sure they know that their efforts will
make a big difference in their lives, financially as well as personally.
We hope they will learn that financing their higher education is within
reach."
